Not all family trees are the same! Some families are well documented and many historical records are available on the internet. For others, few records exist or they can only be found in books, museums, courthouses, churches, etc., and they simply have not been digitized and put online. All of this shapes my process.

We will meet to discuss your goals for your family research project. I will collect basic information including names of relatives, places they lived, etc., to establish a starting references.

I will conduct initial research and determine the feasibility of meeting the stated objectives. I will present the early findings and we'll decide if we continue.

If we continue, we will establish clear outcomes and objectives. This would include defining the number of families and generations for whom information will be gathered, the amount and types of artifacts, etc. We'll also establish timelines for completing the project.

Research will commence to find the information we've agreed upon. I will likely reach out if clarification is needed or questions arise that are impacting the research.

I will provide printouts of family trees and other research information (census records, obituaries, birth, marriage, & death certificates, etc.) per our agreement.
